Nothing Impure Will Enter

Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life (NIV Rev. 21:27).

Those who do not repent will find themselves outside of God’s community. Anyone with active sin must repent of his or her wrongdoings, or he or she will not be able to enter the Holy City. Both the N.T. and O.T. provide a catalog of thoughts and actions that are sin. The listing of N.T. sins is the focus of this chapter, and is only amassed here in partiality. Identifying these sins is crucial and is the first step to discontinuation.

Final Remarks

Everyone should be aware of and avoid these sins. It is true that “nothing impure will ever enter,” however if Jesus did not cleanse and forgive people of one’s sin, Jesus would have declared that “nothing will ever enter.” God is forgiving and inviting and those who avoid these sins do themselves the favor.

“Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood (NIV Rev. 22:14-15).
